Maintenance changes & Regarding Cedi/RDC bugging and lag spikes

1. I find myself having to re-explain as to why this is happening due to the complaining emails we've gotten on the issue from people who still have not read my update on this and what we're doing to fix it, despite their misconceptions on why it's happening.

RDC "bugging"/People bugging RDC/Server lag as a result:

I want to get this straight right now. I don't care where you've been hearing that people are supposedly bugging RDC or who you've heard it from- this is coming from a head GM which means that what I'm about to tell you is actual fact. We look into absolutely everything and investigate claims, we're very thorough about this as we should be, always.

The reason why you are experiencing server lag and quickly going to Prontera castle to find people doing RDC- they are not the cause. Got it? Let me say it clearer: NOBODY IS BUGGING RDC, OR CEDI, PERIOD.

Now- the reason you are experiencing server lag is due to people warping in and out of CEDI and RDC before the chest finishes giving you your loot and not letting it warp you out on its own, either because you don't want the loot or don't want to wait for RDC/CEDI to warp you out on it's own and you just decide you'd rather re-log to get out, that's why this is happening.

Those of you sending complaining emails about this are probably guilty of causing this lag yourselves, so I don't want to see any more pointing fingers on this issue towards other players when the GM's know and have told you that's not the case. So for the third time just to make sure: Server lag regarding CEDI/RDC: It's happening because party's are not patient enough to wait for the chest to completely give out all of its items- therefore the items in the chests back up when you log out during distribution or any time before it warps you out by itself. This causes up to 3-4,000 files to back up in the database and yeah, that's going to make the server lag. We manually go in and delete all backed up items and files right now, but that's about to change. The chests have been programmed to delete themselves- but only AFTER you are warped out by the NPC controlling the chests.

In order to make people behave patiently as they should so that they don't ruin the server for everyone else in their impatience- We've been working for a while now on a solution to this- we HAVE been doing something about it. After long debate, the solution to this problem and what's going to change about RDC and CEDI to stop this backup from happening is this: YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR BIO SAMPLES OR RDC OPERATION CREDITS IF YOU DO NOT STAY UNTIL THE END AND LET CEDI/RDC WARP YOU OUT!

We sadly have to enforce this and for people to be patient to keep the file pile ups from happening or else they just won't stop. It's better to keep our current CEDI and how it distributes and make people wait for the samples and RDC operation tickets because we know it works, rather then having to re-program CEDI chests every time someone tries to create a bug we need to stop everything for to fix. Right now however; when people do not wait for their chests and warp outs to finish naturally- they are not giving the chests a a chance to delete themselves - Instead the chests and files associated with the chests people bailed on, get backed up in the queue because people are far too impatient. So instead of getting angry at us for "not looking into the bugging" when we in fact are and are also coming up with better solutions to make that tier D and C loot desirable so its not such a chore to stay(example: CEDI item recycler NPC) and instead of emailing the GM's trying to tell them their business, be patient and make sure your not part of the problem yourself in warping out too quickly over and over again. I'm very sorry to be so curt, but we really don't appreciate it when people continue to email us with demands and yet don't bother to listen to us.

Once again, STOP pointing fingers because nobody is bugging RDC to make the server lag, but most importantly: you do NOT email the GM's trying to tell them their business or what they "need" to do. We do not and will not reply to emails like that, ever. We know what's going on, we are working to fix it. We're not going to respond to anymore emails on this subject as we've already addressed it for the last time.

2. Don't forget this server is in beta testing, we know all we need to change and are changing it with a new and less buggy client with more features which we have to work on as a package deal, we can't just work on one thing and put it in to the current client because it's actually incompatible with the current client. That's why we're getting a new one. Fixing bugs and working out the kinks in the new things as well as the old things go hand in hand, so be patient and remember: This is a server in beta testing, during which time the purpose of testing is to iron out all kinks and then reformulate a brand new client and server. That kind of thing doesn't happen over night but with us it happens quicker than most as we work very diligently. We're putting together in under a year what takes most other servers over 5 years, so I do think we're doing well. Be patient guys, it'll be worth it!

3. The rise in player disputes lately has also got to stop! It's given us no choice but to take out a lot of the problem by putting up a swear filter. We originally wanted to give people the freedom and fun of expletives, but sadly just a few people can ruin it for everyone else. If these words are going to be miss-used and cause further anger in arguments that turn into something out of control where they try to get GM's involved, then we'd rather these words just weren't used at all. This server needs to be the type of environment where people can play without being badgered and sworn at(not to mention kids play this game to!) When we advertise, the last thing we want to see is blown out of control swearing arguments happening in front of new players, so sorry guys but the swearing is now out because it's being highly abused. That concludes this maintenance.

Tuesday-Wensday Maintenance
Sorry everyone for the inconvenience! We just received an email from our host informing us that they are undergoing maintenance for a few hours until roughly 2:00 AM server time.
1- your not being hacked. Your having trouble logging in because our server host is undergoing maintenance.
2- We receive and read all email's sent to support and always investigate if there should ever be an issue. A lot of you are currently mistaking cedi chest/rdc/server lag spikes and chest delays for something it isn't and blaming people for "bugging RDC/Cedi". First off-;nobody is bugging RDC or Cedi. So please stop sending emails to support telling us to ban people for bugging RDC or cedi every time you experience a chest problem or lag spike while someone is in an rdc/cedi instance. If you want to know what is really happening to cause this, here is why:
When people are running cedi and are not patient enough to WAIT for the chest to finish giving it's items out(though we understand not wanting lower tier items you already have) -and you decide to relog and warp yourselves out instead of letting cedi/rdc warp you out at the proper time; you are back logging the loot items and causing an issue of lag and an issue with chests after you've done it so many times. This is because we have the chests automatically deleting themselves (so that they wont pile up like this) once cedi and rdc timers are finished and warp you out.
Now if you wont wait to be warped out and decide to quickly re-log and rushingly go back in run after run- your not letting cedi itself warp you out, therefore you are not letting the chest items get a chance to delete themselves. So before you accuse someone of bugging cedi, make sure you take into consideration that you could in fact be the one that is actually causing your chests to delay/lag cedi by not being patient enough to let it warp you out like its supposed to so. Since people have been doing this, we actually have to go in manually, wait for everyone to be out of cedi and rdc and delete all of your loot chests you didn't wait for and re-logged out of. We end up doing this two or three times a day.
GM Ruric has finished up the all-class mounts and near completed a lot of some really nice mods. These mods will allow us to make new items for Cedi2 (and new items in general) do some really exciting new things that no other private server is default capable of! Well, not unless they hack into their own source code in a none scripting language and re-write it +add to the source directly ..without screwing up the backbone of the entire game in the process <.< it's time consuming. After the mods are debugged and soon finished, we're going to fix this chest lag and delay problem once and for all by sadly; having to make people wait until the chest is finished giving out items before the party leader can get their bio sample. We may decrease the wait time of warp out for cedi too, but sadly we have to force people to be patient enough to wait so that this chest delay and lag will stop.

For those unwanted cedi items, we're going to put in an NPC that will recycle your non-tradable cedi items either for scrap and zeny, other items or cedi points. It's undecided what this NPC will give you in return for your unwanted cedi items as of right now, but we'll cross that road when we get there~!^_^ In the meantime, venture on Asgardians!

"I hate those GM's" As one of you has said, must not be aware that we put more time into this server programming behind the scenes than any full time+over time office job and are not even getting paid enough yet to have the server pay for itself. Reading comments like these do not exactly make us love our job- and that IS what this server is, a full time job that at first we absolutely loved. Then people began to take advantage of bugs which created many more, which has shown us that we need to do a complete overhaul on chest systems. So the next time you decide to put up a screen shot with hateful messages in it such as one stated by a player recently, and then ask us for help-if you want us in a good mood in the slightest as we pull 24 hour shifts for you behind the scenes, I do not recommend having a comment "I hate those GM's" in the screen shot due to a cedi bug in chests we've told many people countless times that we are going to fix with an in depth new timer and chest system(Which is harder than you might imagine and not an easy quick fix, simply trial and error). . Being impatient about it won't help or solve a thing, demanding progress reports won't help or solve a thing, it'll only push the goal further away by wasting time that could have been spent actually solving the problem. Don't forget that we are also putting countless features into this server in just months that have taken other servers 5+ years.

We have always asked and still do ask that rather than waiting for a GM who's programming to be online- DON'T WAIT! Send ALL reports and important messages to Support@goasgardro.com! Please! Once again, that email is checked DAILY and several times a day at that. GM's are busy programming to get this server out of Beta and give you something even greater! The GM's rightfully depend on YOU to email us your reports and problems if you have a problem! How else are we going to know if you have a problem to help you with if you don't tell us? As well as get work done and eliminate the bugs that need to be eliminated? Fact: People do not, and have not ever used help desk appropriately. People constantly sign up at helpdesk just to chat or demand progress reports on what we're doing behind the scenes, or ask us to help them level or chide us to do things we're already trying to do behind the scenes, flooding us with PM's with the same. We can't get programming done when thirty people angrily or in any way demand constant progress reports in floods of PM's and absolutely insist to know what we're doing to fix this and that and how long its going to take every time we sign in. How can anyone get very intensive work done like that? You tell me. So EMAIL support please! If you want assistance, that's always been how to get it promptly and fully! Hiring new GM's is also not the answer, unless you live close enough to have in person GM meets, we do not have the time to train new GM's who would only really take up more time by acting as a mediator for asking us all of these questions anyways to relay them back to us to answer anyways, when progress reports of any kind slow us down in the first place. A new GM also wouldn't ever be given access to source code out of security reasons whether they could program or not(and there is a HUGE difference between scripting and programming~We don't have a shortage of scriptors and we don't need more programmers than we already have. It would only complicate things and draw them out as well as put everyone's account security and the entire server security at risk- so that we just will not do, ever.) Sadly in our experience we have also come to find that GM powers are far too easy to abuse and have lost some friends due to this reason and not hired since.

For those of you being patient, we thank you with all our hearts!<3 You are the ones that make us still love this server and make us enjoy our jobs! The new client is on the way with fewer bugs and deciphering source code has become much much easier!<3 We have mounts working now on our test server and when we write a few more things into the source code for new and better equipment effects and chest timers, we will bring them to you! ^ ^ Stay strong Asgardians, good things are on the way and I miss you all<3 We are working our tails off and have been this entire time!^ ^ Nothing means more to us then bringing you a strong and successful server out of beta(Yes, this server is in beta testing-as announced in our first ever beta launch announcement, that's why there are bugs still being kinked out!)! We're almost there! ;3 The official release of Asgard out of Beta will have paid advertising on big MMO sites that will bring a rush of people when we are ready for them, so until then hang in there! We need and appreciate your patience and are grateful to those of you who support us in that way!

Sorry Everyone! We are going down for a two hour maintenance during which we will be re-compressing some cedi2 extension files we have added and needed to finalize before being able to put the server back up, sorry!(I jumped the gun on that and we were not yet ready for the server to be back up<.>) You can kick me for it when I'm back on *hides* we will give WoE2 another half hour when everything is taken care of and floating rates will be awesome in exchange for your patience<3 Thank you! Antonio has struck again! He has rallied a bunch of Christmas Santa Porings to turn on Santa Clause and steal all the Christmas Gift. They have fled to random Fields (no dungeons or towns) and roam around casting storm-gust. Santa has asked for any stalwart adventurer to go and retrieve the Stolen Gifts. Doing so with score you a Christmas Gift holding a random headgear and a Stuffed Stocking which has several random Items that are sure to bolster your Christmas cheer!

Problems Patching Troubleshoot/Fixing your Patcher


We've had several reports of people having an error or being unable to patch. Here are the most common causes of this and what you need to do to get your patcher working completely and stop errors:

 

Step 1. Download and install this file as we have found that 90% of the time, this is the solution to this problem. The file is an update for flash for Internet Explorer.

 

 Flash Player 10 Active X

 

Most people are using firefox now and not internet explorer (which is a good thing and we're not telling you to stop using firefox!) However that means you need to download this flash update. Download this flash update even if you are using Internet Explorer. Even if you think you're fully updated, please try this. You're getting error's in-game because you are not fully patched.

 

Step 2. If you can't patch because you are unable to find the "AsgardRO patcher.exe" which should be located in your main AsgardRO folder, this most likely has to do with your anti-virus software. A patcher sends information back and fourth so that you can get our latest sprite/npc/monster/new pets/etc.. updates so that you won't crash when we add new custom things. Unfortunately most anti-virus programs are not smart enough to realize the difference between a game patcher and a trojan, which the patcher is not. If your AsgardRO patcher.exe is missing it's because your anti-virus ate it. To solve this problem follow these steps:

 

First, turn off your anti virus software. If you have an external drive, or any kind of flash drive/memory stick, you'll want to reinstall AsgardRO onto that because every time your anti-virus software is enabled it will just delete the patcher again. You can also reinstall it on your computer and cut and paste the AsgardRO patcher.exe onto the memory stick where it can be safe from your anti-virus. If you know how to put an exception in your anti-virus software to always let AsgardRO patcher.exe run, then do that. If not, you'll need to keep the patcher on a memory stick and whenever there is a patch update you will have to turn off your anti-virus, plug in the memory stick you copied the patcher to patch, then take it back out before turning anti-virus software back on. This method will keep you fully patched and stop all the crashing/errors.

 

Step 3.  If you're seeing Korean characters or gibberish instead of English, then your language and regional settings do not match what our client requires.  Here is how you can reset this.

 

If you have Windows XP: Open control panel through your start menu.  Click on "Regional and Language Options", go to the Advanced tab and change the first drop down menu to "English (United States)".  Your computer will ask you to restart your computer.  You will need to do so, and then your crashing and errors should be fixed.

 

If you have Windows Vista/7 you will have to do something slightly different. Go to your control panel and region and languages like above.  Next click on Administrative, then change system locale and select English. Your computer will ask you to restart your computer.  You will need to do so, and then your crashing and errors should be fixed.

 

If neither of these solution fixes your problem, please feel free to contact us in-game via helpdesk or email support@goasgardro.com.  We will do all in our power to help you fix your problem as soon as possible. Though these steps should about cover it.
